The Inaugural Women’s Philadelphia Triathlon is unlike ANY OTHER Triathlon on the East Coast. This all women’s sprint triathlon will feature a 400 Meter Swim in the Kelly Outdoor Pool, 9 Mile Bike on closed roads, and a scenic 5K Run through Fairmount Park.
What can women expect from this triathlon?
The only all women triathlon in the Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York area featuring a pool swim and the only all women triathlon in state of Pennsylvania.
The Women’s Philadelphia Triathlon will also offer an Aquabike option. The Aquabike consists of a 400 Meter Pool Swim and a 9 Mile Bike only. Reminder: there is no run for an Aquabike. SWIM, BIKE, DONE!
400 Meter Pool Swim, 9 Mile Bike, 5K Run
The Duathlon is for athletes who would rather run than swim. This event begins with a 2 Mile Run past the Please Touch Museum and Horticultural Center, then a 9 Mile Bike, and finishing with a 5K Run.
The swim will take place in the Kelly Pool in Fairmount Park. Triathletes will enter the water at one end and swim eight (8) lengths of the pool in a serpentine fashion [swim up lane 1, down lane 2, up lane 3… and finish in lane 8] There will be ample certified lifeguards on sight. If at any point an athlete feels the need to rest they can simply grab the lane line located on either side. There is NO penalty to do so… this is all about finishing!
The Run is located entirely within the Fairmount Park system. Athletes can expect to run past the Family Friendly Please Touch Museum and Horticultural Center finishing directly next to the transition area.
The 9 Mile Bike course utilizes scenic Fairmount Park and Martin Luther King Blvd. The entire bike is CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC, aka NO CARS ALLOWED! You can feel safe knowing there are only bikes on the course.
Philadelphia, The City of Brotherly Love, is the second-largest city on the East Coast and fifth-largest in the country and the hub of the nation's sixth-largest metropolitan area. That means world-class entertainment options, restaurants, educational institutions, cultural offerings, healthcare, employment opportunities and other benefits of being in a major metropolitan area.
