The Delaware Breakwater will serve as a guide for swimmers as they navigate their way around towards the East End Light House and finally back to the Ferry Terminal.
The East End Lighthouse was built to replace the Cape Henlopen Beacon and was completed on October 2, 1885. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places

There is NO parking on the Ferry grounds for this specific event. We have hired a Shuttle Bus company to take you to the Ferry before your race and back to your car after you race. This rule applies to Friends & Family (Spectators) as well.

There are no bad places to watch! The Ferry terminal is where all the action happens! This will give spectators the most opportunities to see their athlete race.

Additionally, in the instance that the Events have commenced, DelMoSports may cancel the remainder of such Events if, in the opinion of any employee or agent of the Company, there is sufficient reason to believe that the Participant may be in danger of injury or loss. This paragraph includes, but is not limited to, any act of God or unforeseeable event, such as natural disasters, riots, acts of governing authorities, or otherwise.
No! Although you will be jumping in with 5-10 people at a time, there is no danger of someone else jumping on you. We will wait for you to hit the water, collect yourself, and start swimmer before sending more swimmers into the water.

Yes, of course. We will have a designated area on-site near the finish. We will also have staff members guarding your belongings.
NO. If you are not ‘feeling it’ that day, you DO NOT HAVE TO JUMP. We are happy to take you back to the dock but you will not be able to swim and will have to DNF.
Yes. We are proud to have dual sanction and athletes must race according to USMS & WOWSA rules. We will also remind you of these rules in the athlete guide.
Yes, we will be a 2.5 hour cut off time for the 3 Mile Swim and a 1 hour cut off time for the 1 Mile Swim.
The Delaware Bay in late September is usually around the low 70’s. Yes, we are proud to have wetsuit and non-wetsuit categories. Please, we recommend you swimming in what you train in, do not change anything the day of the race.
Wetsuits may be worn if the water temperature is less than 84 degrees however, if the water is between 78-84 degrees all participants wearing wetsuits will not be eligible for awards. Please be aware you are swimming in an open body of water, it is imperative you are prepared for all water conditions.

Host motel for the Escape to Lewes Open Water Swim. Just 2 blocks from downtown Lewes, and 3 blocks from Lewes Beach, our central location is ideal for walking and exploring the first town in the first state. Please note: We have an elevator, but we are not handicap accessible. We are non-smoking, and do not allow pets.
DelMoSports, LLC does not allow for any deferrals. However, you may request a refund provided you have purchased Registration Protector. Additionally, you may also request a transfer to another DelMoSports event in the same calendar year, provided you meet the Transfer Policy terms below.

DelMoSports, LLC offers Registration Protector through ACTIVE. In the event that you register for a DelMoSports event and cannot participate, there are no refunds UNLESS you have purchased Registration Protector AND are in compliance with the terms and conditions. Additionally, refer to item 9 of the DelMoSports, LLC Waiver: I acknowledge and agree that Event Producer, in its sole discretion, may delay, modify, or cancel the Event for any reason, including if it believes the conditions on the race day are unsafe. In the event the Event is delayed, modified, or cancelled, including but not limited to acts of God or the elements (including without limitation, wind, rough water, rain, hail, hurricane, tornado, earthquake), acts of terrorism, fire, threatened or actual strike, labor difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, race course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control of Event Producer, there shall be no refund of entry fee or any other costs incurred in connection with the Event.
