What Did I Learn?

December, December how I love you so. December always marks the end of racing season, and for me, this was my 21st in the biz. Years ago, I was told the following, "The greatest moments of growth are also the most painful," and 2024 was no exception. When I look back to January and review the goals I had set I realized there was so much I was not prepared for and it had nothing to do with actual work and had everything do with how we go about our everyday lives and how easy it can be to get lost in the shuffle. I learned a few things along the way and though I would share with you.

I learned it's ok to be scared
I learned change is not only good...but it's absolutely necessary
I learned everyone is not going to understand you
I learned to trust my gut
I learned it's never to early to start
I learned I know more than I think
I learned to keep it under control
I learned not everyone will return gratitude
I learned no matter how much you want to help people, some people don't want it
I learned it's not enough to want it. You have to get it, and have the capacity to deal with it.
I learned the moment you settle the decline will be begin
I learned what get's me fired up
I learned you can never call your loved ones enough
I learned to book the trip even if I don't have "time"
I learned if you don't make the time, that time will mock you
I learned it's going to be ok
I learned I'll never have all the answers
I learned people lie to me, all the time
I learned you never know what type of pain someone is walking around with
I learned it can happen to anyone
I learned I can take it
I learned to always bet on me

Folks, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I cannot go into all that was 2024, and to be perfectly honest, I don't want to. I'd rather compartmentalize all the learnings and seal them in my fuel tanks of energy and nuclear motivation to unlock new levels in 2025. I hope you do the same.
