Why can't the months all be the same number of days? Can't we do something about that? February, you done did it again. You flew by and are smacking me in the face with March like a dead fish. Thanks. So, how's it going so far? The first two months of 2025 were NOTHING like I planned.

So, how's it going so far? The first two months of 2025 were NOTHING like I planned. I was battling an injury (neck) that totally derailed family and work plans, and in the process I also wrecked my right knee that required 10 weeks rest. Glorious.
But, if 2024 taught me anything, it's those minor inconveniences compared to what some people are dealing with on a daily basis. Just last week I received a call from a very close friend, and elite athlete in his day, that he was battling cancer. Talk about a punch to the face. But, this is where I am in the cycle of life.
Just yesterday me and all my friends were trading money at each other's weddings, then attending 1st birthday parties for our children, then onto 8th grade graduations, and unfortunately funerals. This can only mean one thing: We are not getting any younger. However, what you lose to youth you gain in experience and wisdom...if you've paid attention. I've got a few tidbits to share, so here it goes.
And by the way, if you're in your 40's or beyond, share this with a teenager or someone in their 20's or early 30's. I'm certain this can help.
5 Things To Always Remember in Life (and sport) written from my perspective.
1. I will always bet on me. Have supreme belief in your ability to get the job done...because you can.
2. This too shall pass. When times are good, they don't last, and when times are tough, they won't last.
3. No matter the situation, I'm built for this. Rain, Cold, Sickness, Injury etc. I can get through it.
4. The Compound Effect is real. Decisions you made 10 years ago put you in this exact place. Make smart/better decisions on a daily basis and reap the rewards. If you make dumb decisions, you live with the consequences. It's really that simple.
5. Alway, Always, Always, revert back to #1.
So, I'm reverting back to #1.
March is six inches from my face. I'm staring it down like a champion in the octagon. I'm built for this. I've put in the work, and will continue to put in the work. My experience, my grit, and my scars are my superpower.
You not where you want to be right now? Revert to #1.
