Meet Athlete AND the 12th Day of Christmas Winner, Brian Mansfield!
Brian is 48 years old and lives in Neptune, NJ. He's been married to his wife Lisa for 22 years. They have two boys - a 20 year old in the US Navy and an 18 year old high school senior, and Pug named Penny. Brian is a retired police officer and currently works as a high school security officer and seasonal lifeguard with the Ocean Grove Beach Patrol. He's been racing DelMoSports events since 2016 when he took on IM70.3AC. Brian raced IM70.3AC again in 2017 then volunteered at the event in 2018 and 2019 with the Jersey Shore Triathlon Club. In 2019 he also raced Escape the Cape and Tri the Wildwoods for the first time. 2021 was the year of IRONMAN, where he and his training partners, John Tallarico and Jack Gramlich, took on IM Chattanooga, which Brian finished in 13:19. 2022 it was back to the DelMo circuit to race ETC, Tri AC, and Tri WW!
We hosted the 12 Days of Christmas on social media in December and Brian was the lucky winner for the final day! He won FREE entries for the following events: MudHen Brewing Co. IPA 5K, Escape the Cape Triathlon, Atlantic City Triathlon, Tri the Wildwoods AND IRONMAN 70.3 Atlantic City! That's over $1,200!!!!!
1. What is your favorite DelMoSports event to race and why?
Tri the WW because of the grassroots vibe. I love running down the beach and WW boardwalk.
2. What is your favorite workout song?
Anything from 90s Hip Hop and Rap.
3. Favorite pre-race meal?
PB&J and a banana.
4. What is your race mantra?
The same as my daily mantra - "DIE LIVING." Living each day as if it was your last.
5. What is your favorite memory from a DelMoSports event?
Returning to 70.3 racing at IMAC in 2016 and crossing the finish line after a DNF at my second Eagleman in 2010.
6. What does your training look like right now?
It's very early in the season so I've been focusing on my strength and conditioning with Street Parking workouts and getting back in the pool.
7. What do you do with your free time when you are not training or racing?
Spending time with my family and surfing as often as possible.
8. What is your goal for this upcoming season?
Focus on IMAC 70.3 and try to break 6 hours.
9. Tell us three things we should know about you.
- I raise money for fallen Police Officers with Team Blue Line.
- I love the beach.
- I hate vegetables.
